Abstract

The process of building or retrofitting structures is affected by the velocity of construction, not only in the cost, but also due to the potential of injury that it can produce (noise, pollution, traffic problems, etc.). Thus, it is desirable a construction period as short as possible. The steel-concrete composite structures satisfy these requirements since the steel and the concrete members can be prefabricated, and only the structural assembly needs to be performed on site. Currently, however, the steel-concrete composite connections are not adapted for using prefabricated slabs, which reduces the construction time and the durability of the building. In this way, the development of new types of connections is clearly necessary. Connections based on the adherence between steel and concrete surfaces consist in a especially promising solution. The current state-of-the-art of the connections is still incomplete, and more information must be added to allow the practical use of this type of connection. The present research focus is the analysis and discussion on the behavior of steel-concrete connection between prefabricated slabs and steel I beam sections, based mainly on the adherence mechanism. Experimental program includes static and dynamic tests aiming the understanding of the behavior of the studied structures under different loading conditions. A theorethical evaluation will also be performed, through a finite element based analysis with a scientific software as Diana or Ansys.
