Abstract

With the aim of studying the concepts of geographic knowledge expressed by Monteiro Lobato on "Geography of Dona Benta", I propose this research. The dialogue between geographical knowledge and scientific knowledge of literature is fundamental to understanding how the geography, as a field of knowledge that seeks to understand the geographic space and demonstrates its repertoire and its specificities while genre. Understanding the cultural mentality prevailing in a given geographical-historical period is necessary for the interpretation of the concepts and values proposed by the authors to consolidate their ideas through writing, be it literary or scientific nature. In view of this, the research that we propose, for bibliographic and documentary, will be in line on the experience of reading the work in question, trying to analyze the contributions of Monteiro Lobato for the construction of representations of geographic space and the production of national identity by bias literary.
