Abstract

Considering the thematic treatment of the documentary as set of procedures for the representation of the contents of scientific documents in order to facilitate the location or query, in this sense the index is considered a stage intellectual and great importance in the treatment of the documentary, it consists in describing the contents of the document so he can represent the subject in the best way, enabling the retrieval of the document by the user. In search of Scientific Initiation "Study of the context of university libraries for indexing and retrieval approaches in specific domains" found that the main factors that influenced the outcome of the consistency of indexing books at collective online catalog Cruesp were the lack of a documentary language and a policy of indexing well defined. Thus, we understand that the theme for the Evaluation of Indexing Consistency requires, in continuity with the research on the evaluation of indexing and the applicability of the method that complements this activity. Accordingly, we propose an investigation of the applicability of the evaluation method of indexing in online catalogs for University Libraries. For both, it will be a survey on theoretical and methodological evaluation of indexing and the applicability of this method, and this survey will be added to the previous search results for the applicability of the methods of evaluation index, seeking help in the dissemination and discussion of the need assessment indexing and ensure the enhancement of information retrieval in online catalogs in uiversity libraries.
