Abstract

Sporothrix schenckii is the causative agent of sporotrichosis, a subcutaneous mycosis, first described in 1898 by Benjamin Schenck (1898). Classically, sporotrichosis is gained by the implantation trauma into the subcutaneous tissue of the fungus. Most infections occur through injuries from thorns, splinters of wood or wire, but other forms of inoculation have been described as an insect bite or scratch and bite cats. Most cases present framework lymphocutaneous with the initial lesion that develops in the form of a granulomatous nodule that may progress to form a necrotic or ulcerative lesion. The illness is most common among professionals such as gardeners, fruit and vegetable growers, farmers and animal handlers. Currently it is the S. schenckii as a "complex" constituted by the species: S. brasiliensis, S. globosa, S. Mexican, S. and S. schenckii Lurie. Given the changes that have occurred in recent years concerning the complex S. schenckii, this study aims to investigate whether there is variability among antigenic and immunogenic species S. schenckii, S. globosa, S. Mexican and S. brasiliensis. To achieve these goals we will carry out Western blot test reacted exoantigens of different species with their respective antisera, using homologous and heterologous system. In addition, we will analyze the exoantigens of different species by SDS-PAGE to verify the pattern of proteins / glycoproteins expressed.
