Abstract The main of this project is contribute to the knowledge of the potentiality of the some Machaerium species from the Brazilian Cerrado by a chemical-pharmacological study, in other words, isolation and identification of the compounds presented in the vegetable extracts together with pharmacological assays to the antiulcer, anti-inflamatory/analgesic, anti-mutagenic and mutagenic activities. According to the literature, some Machaerium species (Fabaceae) are ethnopharmacologic used like as Machaerium hirtum (vell.) Stellfedl., it is a plant which barks are employed popularly against diarrhoea, cough and cancer. It is popularly known as "adolfo and bico-de andorinha". Despite of it, no data until now can be observed approaching the chemistry or pharmacological studies with this species. | |
