Abstract

Health professionals, particularly the hospital nursing staff, live a lot of tension in the workplace due to long journeys, the limited number of professional and also to psycho-emotional wear in the tasks that they perform. This can be a source of occupational stress and also lead to burnout syndrome, which goes beyond stress and is associated with the working world. This research wants to examine not only if the professionals of the nursing staff of the Maternity Hospital Nossa Senhora das Vitórias de Assis (SP) show characteristics attributed to the burnout syndrome, but also identify sources and symptoms of stress in nursing professionals participating in the research and relate the characteristics attributed to the burnout syndrome with individual differences and functional subjects. Will be used to obtain the data, two research instruments, self-applied, the ISE and the MBI-HSS, which are respectively, the stress and the characteristics of burnout syndrome, and a semistructured interview to substantiate the qualitative analysis.
