Abstract

Several studies involving endophytic microorganisms have been published, and more recently some studies evaluating microorganism interaction resulting in modification of the kind or amount of the produced compound. In this project, cultures including Colletotrichum boninense and Streptomyces albospinus, both of them endophytic microorganisms isolated from Lychnophora ericoides, belonging to the collection of the Laboratório de Química de Micro-organismos (LQMo) of the FCFRP-USP, will be carried out in order to increase their potential to produce new bioactive compounds. With the main goal of accessing to microbial natural products, co-culture strategy is currently used. Some papers reporting isolation of new compounds involving S. albospinus have been published. There are no reports about co-culture strategy including neither S. albospinus nor C. boninense in order to obtain new bioactive compounds. Analyses by chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques of the extracts will be done. Cytotoxicity assays of extracts will be carried out. Analyses of the differences between single culture and co-culture in order to obtain new interesting compounds will be done. (AU)
