Abstract

The objective of this research project is to study the control techniques of active and reactive powers of three-phase rotor wound induction generator as an alternative to the synchronous generators for use in wind farms and small hydroelectric power plants connected to the electric power system with through matrix converters or back to back converter. In this case, the system consists of an induction generator with its stator connected directly to the network and its rotor also that only through a bidirectional converter. It is proposed to study methods of controlling power generator wound rotor induction generator and the control study of active and reactive power generator stator and also the types of converters for power processing that can be used, including, the matrix converter. The design of the controllers will be made through the dynamic mathematical model of the wind system studied. Studies will be conducted primarily through advanced computer simulations using mathematical models of the system under study and subsequently, if possible, by implementing the technique studied in a prototype power reduced in the laboratory that is already existing.
