Abstract

Oxidative stress occurs due to excessive generation of reactive oxygen species metabolism (ROS), which are injurious to the tissues. It is believed that oxidative stress is a potentially important factor in the mortality of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and in mediating many complications, especially cardiovascular, renal and neurological. Objective with this study was to evaluate oxidative stress in dogs with CKD considering the four stages of disease progression. Ten healthy dogs (control group) and another 40 with CKD naturally acquired, from the kennel Research Group Veterinary Nephrology and Urology (GPNUV), and the care of the Department of Nephrology and Urology (SNUV) Veterinary Hospital "Governor will be used report Natel "FCAV / UNESP Jaboticabal. Dogs diagnosed with CKD will be divided into four groups according to the evolution stage of CKD (stages 1, 2, 3 and 4) until 10 animals per group are completed. The experimental evaluations will be conducted both in dogs and in the control group with CKD. The examinations comprise kidney serum biochemical profile, determination of protein reason / urinary creatinine, complete blood count, measurement of blood pressure and assessment of oxidative stress that will be taken by determining serum concentrations of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) and total free radical (Total Antioxidant Assay Kit), and indirect determination of plasma concentrations of nitric oxide. Two evaluations will be conducted in compliance with the 24-hour interval.
