Abstract The main of this project is contribute to the knowledge of the potentiality of the some Machaerium species from the Brazilian Cerrado by a chemical-pharmacological study, in other words, isolation and identification of the compounds presented in the vegetable extracts together with pharmacological assays to the antiulcer, anti-inflamatory/analgesic, anti-mutagenic and mutagenic activities. According to the literature, some Machaerium species (Fabaceae) are ethnopharmacologic used like as Machaerium eriocarpum, it is a plant which barks are employed popularly against inflamation. It is popularly known as "espinheira". Despite of it, no data until now can be observed approaching the chemistry or pharmacological studies with this species. | |
