Abstract

Further studies are needed on the potential of predatory bugs to control key pests. The family Reduviidae is very diverse taxonomically and geographically abundant, in which studies are still scarce. The aim of this study is to assess demographic aspects of experimental populations of a species of reduviidae, still unidentified, genus Hiranetis sp and subfamily Harpactorinae fed with larvae of Chrysomya putoria (Wiedemann) (Diptera, Calliphoridae) in a treatment similar to that used with pentatomid Podisus nigrispinus, in order to observe if the age structure is similar to the P. nigrispinus and the implications on population dynamics. Survival and fertility will be investigated with ecological modeling, by applying an array of stages. Thus, the demographic parameters, fecundity and survival among life stages will be estimated in the laboratory, evaluated using survival analysis and explored with Leslie matrix using computer simulations. The insects are kept in a room at 25 ± 1 ° C, 12 h photoperiod and RH of 70 ± 10%. The estimated survival between life stages is obtained by counting the survivors as between the periods of nymphal development and adulthood and fecundity estimated at specific moments of life of females. The results obtained will be used to generate histograms stages of life in successive times, as well as time series. The functional response of Podisus nigrispinus fed the same prey, which has been outstanding, will also be studied as well as the dependence of the density.
