Abstract

Bronchiectasis is the permanent dilatation of the bronchi caused by chronic inflammation of the lower airways resulting in recurrent respiratory tract infection. In developed countries, was estimated that 10% of patients who have bronchiectasis have ciliary dyskinesia as etiology. Still, 80% of patients with bronchiectasis have chronic rhinosinusitis, wich represents a significant impact in the quality of life. The reason for this association may be in the "one airway disease" theory like in asthma and rhinitis.(AU)
