Abstract

The market of herbal medicines in Brazil is significantly growing and the Federal Government is implementing a series of measures aimed at their research and development. One of these measures is the publication of RENISUS (a list of medicinal plants of interest to Brazilian public health), in which species with potential to advance in stages of production and generate products of interest to SUS are inserted. One of the plants listed is the Erythrina. However, studies on kinetic disposition of their constituents and especially the oxidative metabolism of phase 1 are not available. These studies are fundamental for understanding the pharmacological and toxicological effects, since less toxic or more active metabolites may be revealed.In this context, this project aims to apply in vitro and ex vivo biomimetic model reactions in E. verna Alkaloids, in order to support studies on kinetic disposition.
