Aging process may lead to alterations of the stomatognathic system, caused by environmental and individuals factors who may interfere in the operation of biological structures leading to psychological alterations and consequentlyaffecting the quality of life and well-being of the individual. The objective of thisstudy will be to evaluate oral health conditions, psychological aspects related toquality of life, cortisol and alpha-amilase salivary levels in institutionalizedelderly, over 60 years old. Oral conditions will be evaluated by clinicalexamination for verification of dental aspects, presence of dental prosthesis andperiodontal conditions. Will be applied the questionnaires Medical OutcomesStudy 36-item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) for the evaluation of quality oflife; Oral Health Assessment Index (GOHAI), for subjective oral evaluation in elderly; Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) used for evaluate the stress selfperception; the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15), for verification of psychological conditions and also the McGill used to analyze the presence ofpain in individuals. Saliva samples will be collected for quantification of cortisoland alpha-amilase salivary levels, collected at home using polypropylene tubes following instructions provided to participants. The data will be analyzed by descriptive statistics. Parametric and non parametric tests will be applied, according to data distribution, consisting of tests of comparison, correlation and regression models adjusted.
