Abstract

Despite relevance of the microhabitat marine sponges, since their spines provide protection for wildlife endo and epibiont that lurks on the substrate, there are few studies in Brazil about the fauna associated with this group. This study is aims to determine the faunal composition, with emphasis on Peracarida associated with the sponge Mycale angulosa. Samples of sponges will be collected every 3 months in the Pontal da Cruz Beach in São Sebastião Channel, northern coast of São Paulo. Each sample will be dissected, and the fauna (epi and endobionts) will be screened and identified at higher taxonomic levels. The fauna of Peracarida will be identified at the species level. In addition to analyzing the composition of the fauna of Peracarida, individuals will have their body length measured to determine whether there is a relation between this fauna and the size of the kiss of the sponge, and the females will be conted in this group ovate to examine whether M. angulosa is a favorable environment for the reproduction of Peracarida.
