Abstract

Calopogonium mucunoides belongs Phaseolae tribe, subfamily Papilionoideae, family Leguminosae (Fabaceae). It has a great ability to adapt extremely high resistance to drought presenting with high capacity for osmotic adjustment.Grows well in a wide range of soil conditions ranging from very acidic (pH 4.3) to alkaline (pH 8.0) and adapts to low soil fertility, besides having a high capacity for biological nitrogen fixation. Despite these characteristics there are not many studies on nitrogen metabolism and has recently been identified symbiotic system's tolerance to the presence of external nitrogen. Based on this information, we will evaluate the tolerance of the symbiotic system to different ranges of substrate pH, seeking to understand the mechanism of this kind of adaptation to the soil conditions of "Cerrado".(AU)
