Abstract

This current project focuses on a specific case study of the preposition POR in Brazilian Portuguese (BP). The aim here is to provide valuable insights into reflective pedagogical proposals targeted to the teaching/learning process of this category. In order to achieve such goal, it is essential to describe the functions of the preposition through the linguistic system as to defining a semantic property capable of explaining its various discourse functions, which leads to our pursuit of retrieving regularities proper to the uses of this preposition. This analysis plays an important role in understanding the constitutive variation of the preposition, as well as, the construction of the meaning in utterances and in discourse. (AU)
