This project includes the study and development of technologies associated with the multifunctional use of power electronic converters in smart micro-grids. The conventional use of converters has been limited to the function of injecting the power generated locally in the mains. However, within its power capability, other relevant functions can be undertaken concurrently, for example, mitigating problems of power quality. The joint and coordinated operation of several drives is one of the current challenges in the implementation of the so-called smart-grids. In addition, compensation strategies most appropriate in cases of power quality problems are also subject of discussion (AU)
