Abstract

Modern aquaculture is currently going through scientific and technological advances that have resulted in large increase in fish production. Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is the species of fish most cultivated in Brazil, with growing market. During its productive process additives can be used, among them bacterial, to promote better animal performance as well as to increase pigmentation of the products. Rubrivivax gelatinosus is a fotoheterotrofic bacterium natural from environments and wastewater, where it grows contributing to the reduction of organic load and producing biomass. Effluents from industries animal products were used for growing bacterial and the biomass produced presented high levels of oxycarotenoids and proteins, suggesting the application of the product in animal feeding. This research project aims to use different concentrations of biomass of R. gelatinosus in tilapia raise and see its effects on animal performance, liver structure and hematologic behavior of animals and about the characteristics on the quality of the obtained fillets. Thus, it is intended to generate data that allow the efficient and safe application of the product in animal farm. (AU)
