Abstract

The new organization of the landscape resulting from the onslaught from the man-made system on São Paulo's Cerrado areas needs to be understood and studied in order to contribute to the formulation of public politics for the preservation of the fragments of this vegetation which has been reduced at 1% of its original area in the State of São Paulo. Within this research the study's object area is the raster of Descalvado located at coordinates 21°54' south latitude and 47°37' west longitude, using as a starting point studies of place names, landforms, soils, traveler's accounts, and fieldwork. The principal objective of this research is to elaborate on primitive vegetation map attempt to understand the new forms and the process of the land's use and occupation.(AU)
