Abstract

The research project aims to conduct research on the architectural heritage of medium-sized cities of Sao Paulo as a subsidy for its preservation by putting buildings under governmental trust or cultural appreciation (historical and artistic) by the Defense Councils of Historic or public Ministry, as simple awareness to the community of its importance to the local identity. Looking thus through a detailed survey data, contribute to the protection of architectural heritage Thus, the inventory will check buildings or set of them from 1940s that still remain in the central quadrangle of the urban space of Presidente Prudente São Paulo, decade of economic boom that was reflected in numerous buildings in the downtown area, but even with the current process of redefining local centrality and deterioration of these regions, many of these buildings still remain as a record of that time. So, this research will serve as a reference and continuity for others that have the purpose of preservation, restoration and adaptation to new demands for socio-use and appropriation of contemporary society. Due to the large spatial area (the historic center, approximately 1,200 buildings), this study divides this cut in two, and that this research will develop them with a 600 (six hundred) buildings.
