Abstract

There are many interests in new dosage forms intended to increase patient adherence to treatment. The hybrid polymer matrices are a great option for these new forms, possessing superior mechanical and optical properties as compared to conventional polymers. In addition organic-inorganic hybrids present other typical characteristics that increase the patient adherence to the treatment, controlled drug release rate and interesting occlusive properties. This work is related to the master thesis of Juliana Fernandes Mendes, financed by FAPESP (processo 2010/03335-5) and is part of a project FAPESP (processo n° 2011/01971-4) that have as objective to prepare film forming materials by using organic-inorganic hybrids to be used simultaneously as skin protector, wound protector and drug delivery matrixes. The aim of this work is to verify the influence of different kind of catalyst agents in the preparation of organic-inorganic hybrid film forming matrixes and to establish the relationships between the chemical nature of the catalyst agent and the ability of the matrixes to incorporate and to control the drug delivery profiles.
