Abstract

This work aims the evaluation of the mechanical and thermal cycling effects on the roughness of different marks of artificial teeth. In order to do that, specimens will be made with 5 different marks of artificial teeth. After preparation and polishing, all specimens will be stored in distilled water at 37°C for 48 hours(n=5), and a roughness reading will be made at the following gaps, according to each group: G1: roughness read after specimens storage in distilled water at 37°C for 48 hours; G2: roughness read after mechanical cycling of 600,000 constant cycles; G3: roughness read after mechanical cycling of 1,200,000 constant cycles; G4: roughness read after 2,500 thermocycling baths, alternating between hot water (55°C) and cold water (5°C), with permanence; G5: roughness read after 5,000 thermocycling baths, alternating between hot water (55°C) and cold water (5°C). After the cycling and storage, the specimens of each group will be submitted to the roughness reading of their surfaces, measured by the rough meter. The results will be tabulated and submitted to the most appropriate statistical test, at a significance level of 5%.(AU)
