Abstract The knowledge of the ecological distribution provides information, which allows a more appropriate monitoring of the preferred habitats of the species, facilitating the understanding of its relationship with environmental factors, directing efforts to a better management of natural stocks. Another important factor is the establishment of population dynamics, in which the main focus is the breeding season, sexual maturity, juvenile recruitment and sex ratio. They provide a basis for the implementation of management plans, which propitiates the preservation of species. Thus, this study aims to contribute to a better understanding of the biology of shrimp Nematopalaemon schmitti, focusing on its distribution in relation to environmental factors by examining the reproductive period, sexual maturity, juvenile recruitment and sex ratio, on Macaé Coast region. With a shrimp boat, six transects will be sampled, in areas up to 20m depth. Each transect will have a sampling effort of 30 minutes covered. Statistical tests will be employed according to the proposed objectives and obtained results in this study. The expected result is generating biological and ecological information, fundamental to understanding their life cycle. Such knowledge becomes necessary for the administration of a controlled and sustainable fishing, as well as preservation of other species that have no commercial interest, but participate directly in the trophic chain. | |
