Abstract

It´s a research project linked to the master's program of the Music Department of the Arts Institute of UNICAMP, which will be developed in the Interdisciplinary Nucleus for Sound Studies (NICS). We claim to search new knowledge to a current and emerging area with the following objectives: a) study the literature in the field of Musical Cognition and Soundscape, b) develop computer models and c) test hypotheses with these models. The study will concentrate on soundscapes focusing on the masking sound sources and the subject's response in terms of their expectation of acoustical events. As a result we intend to: 1) Develop a dissertation grounded in theoretical analysis and experimental data, 2) Implement a computer system to perform psychoacoustic tests and 3) increase knowledge about Sound Cognition.
