Abstract

The relations and the meaning of work have undergone transformations in recent decades, after the productive restructuring process. We can observe the apparent loss of centrality of work as a social category, key to the construction of subjectivities. There is a rearrangement of the organization of work and production with the decline of the Fordism and Taylorism and the emergence of the debates about the new flexibility of labor relations. Aimed at the emphasis on autonomy and individualization of workers and, paradoxically, by the increasing of subordination of these same workers, the need for mobilization of subjective elements, also understood as entrepreneurial capacity, opening to changes, risks, challenges, continuous updating, trust, social capital, etc. In this scenario we have emblematic professions and occupations of this ongoing transformation process. The profession of promoter assembles a set of representative characteristics of this change, such as autonomy, flexibility, entrepreneurial spirit, along with the instability, permanent risks, no rights unless under the prospect of self-employment. The project aimed to study the profession of the promoters of artistic and musical events in the city of São Paulo, discussing the characteristics of self-management, entrepreneurship reinterpreted in informality and instability, trying to ascertain the determinants of their role in mobilizing social capital and action in informal networks, the building of relationships of trust and reciprocity.
