Abstract

Routinely in vitro researches don't draw parallels progression and regression of the initial caries lesion, with clinical protocol parameters for diagnosis of this lesion as ICDAS. This project will be developed in order to identify the effect of demineralization needed to caries lesion in vitro production in bovine enamel, using Streptococcus mutans biofilms with clinical features similar to those found in ICDAS II (2009) criteria, codes 1, 2 and 3. This study aims to test the hypotheses that: i) different demineralization times produce artificial caries lesions comparable to those classified by the ICDAS II codes 1, 2, and 3; will be used the following evaluation parameters to identify the caries production, remineralization and cariogenic challenge: clinical parameters (visual inspection-ICDAS II (2009) and radiographic); morphologicals: topography and depth (MEV, polarized light microscopy, confocal laser scanning) and transverse microhardness (KHN). These parameters will be statistically compared using appropriate statistical test to verify the association between them (p<0,05) (AU)
