Evaluation of the diffusion capacity of calcium hydroxide and aloe vera paste through the dentinal tubules

Abstract

This study aim to evaluate the diffusion capacity of calcium hydroxide pastes with aloe vera through the dentinal tubules. The study will be conducted on 60 extracted single-rooted bovine teeth, whose crowns be removed. Following, the root canals will be instrumented and divided into 4 groups according to intracanal medication: Group I - calcium hydroxide and distilled water; Group II - calcium hydroxide and propylene glycol; Group III - calcium hydroxide and aloe vera solution; Group IV - calium hydroxide, aloe vera, and propylene glycol. After the root canal filling with the dressings, the teeth will be sealed with araldite. The teeth will be placed in flasks containing deionized water and kept in an oven at 37ºC, with 100% humidity. After 3h, 24h, 72h, 7 days, 15 days, and 30 days, the pH values of solutions in the flasks will be measured with aid of a pH meter. Data will be recorded in tables and the differences between study groups and study periods, statistically analyzed by the Tukey test, at a significance level of 5%.(AU)
