Abstract

Since the introduction of dental composite resins, the study of thermal and mechanical properties of these materials is of great importance to the continued development of new compositions. The study of thermal and mechanical behavior of composites prepared from monomers, inorganic fillers and chitosan in different proportions is proposed in this project. The proposed systems will be subjected to thermal and photochemical curing, the thermal behavior will be evaluated using TG and DSC, while dynamic mechanical studies will be evaluated with the use of DMA. These studies will assess the thermal, physical and mechanical properties, such as glass transition temperature, degree of cure, tensile strength, flexural strength, all those related to the composition and proportion of the monomer and inorganic fillers. In addition to traditional inorganic fillers, chitosan (unmodified and modified) will be evaluated as filler of composite resins, by the same thermal and mechanical tests.
