Abstract

Eleutherine bulbosa belongs to Iridaceae family and includes 90 genus and about 1200 species. As the reported folk medicine activity of the species, it was described as a vermifuge, menstruation regulator, intestinal disorders pain reliever, abortive, and anti-fertility. Scientific research has shown its effectiveness as antifungal, purgative, anti-cancer, antimicrobial, and abortive. Based on this information the project has the aim to evaluate the cytotoxic activity from the ethanolic extract of Eleutherine bulbosa bulbs by in vitro murine melanoma culture (B16F10 Nex 2.1) assay and inhibition of inducing tumor by Agrobacterium tumefaciens in Solanum tuberosum discs. Also has the aim to evaluate the antioxidant activity of the same extract by using the assay of free radical scavenging activity by DPPH and the effect of iron chelation, furthermore performing the quantification of phenols, total flavonoids, and tannins present in the extract.
