Abstract

SUMMARYThe project addresses the issue of educating readers in kindergarten and first grade of elementary school focusing on children's literature, specifically the illustrations / images carried in the books of literature, whose general objective is to discuss the role of illustrations / pictures in the process of reading acquisition of children five and six years of public schools in kindergarten and elementary school in the city of Marilia (SP). Specifically, the perspective is to understand the meaning of the illustrations in the book of children's literature, from a review of literature on the topic and found theoretical systematization of the data, gather and systematize the titles (books) for children's literature that compose the collection of the partner schools research, aimed at children of 5 and 6 years of age; check teachers' knowledge of the research partners about the functions of the illustrations in the process of appropriation capacity reader, through data collected from their accounts in interviews, observe and interviewing ten children from each school in times of reading books of literature, from semi-structured interviews, focusing on the role of illustrations for the readings they perform. In addition to literature, research actions will be effective with field research, particularly early childhood education in a school and another elementary school, belong to the public schools of the city of Marilia (SP). As instruments of data collection, there will be interviews with teachers and children as well as observation of reading situations of children from offering selected literature books, and cataloging of books, children's literature in schools conducive to the existing work done by this research proposal.
