Abstract

This work will evaluate the effect of green manures in suppressing weeds. The experiment will be installed at Center for Agricultural Sciences / UFSCar - Araras, SP. The experimental design is randomized blocks in factorial scheme (3 x 2), with three species of green manures: Crotalaria spectabilis, Mucuna cinerea, Sorghum bicolor, and two straw managements ( kept on the soil surface or incorporated). After cutting of the green manure will be transplanted seedlings of lettuce (Lactuca sativa). Sampling will be conducted through the weed-square-inventory method to obtain the index value of importance. This survey will be done at different times: before sowing, at the time of cutting of green manure and 30, 60 and 90 days after cutting. Will be done, also evaluation of biomass of lettuce. The results will be submitted to analysis of variance, applying the F test, and the significant interactions have their averages compared by Tukey test at 5%.
