Abstract

IL-18 is a proinflammatory cytokine and its role in paracoccidioidomycosis is not fully understood. This study aims to evaluate the role of IL-18 in the dectin-1 expression by human monocytes challenged with Paracoccidioides brasiliensis; evaluate the role of dectin-1 in the induction of IL-18, TNF-alpha and IL-10 by human monocytes challenged with Paracoccidioides brasiliensis; evaluate the role of dectin-1 and IL-18 in the monocyte activity against P. brasiliensis, by evaluating fungicidal activity and hydrogen peroxide production.
