The aim of this project is to determine the electrophoretic profile of acute phase proteins (APP) of Girolando cattle naturally infected with Trypanosoma vivax, using a SDS-PAGE. The infected group will be compose by 500 samples of sera from Girolando cattle naturally infected with T. vivax and the control group by 50 sera from healthy Girolando cattle from areas considered free of this hemoparasite. Samples of cattle naturally infected with T. vivax were collected during the outbreak, through the external jugular venipuncture. Sera were divided into aliquots of 1.0 mL, identified and stored at -80°C. All samples of control group will be submitted to the IFAT and ELISA for detection of anti-T. vivax antibodies. Serum samples of control animals will be obtained from cattle from the Northeastern region of Sao Paulo, an area considered free of this hemoparasite. All sera from the control group will be submitted to the IFAT and ELISA for the detection of anti-T. vivax antibodies and, only negative sera in both tests will be use.
