Abstract

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder severe non-infectious higher incidence worldwide. The association between epilepsy and psychiatric disorders has long been known, but only in recent decades is significant studies that have emerged on the subject. Research shows that the occurrence of mood disorders and anxiety disorders is associated with the presence of an inflammatory response and morphological changes in brain structures. A better understanding of the functioning of these disorders as a consequence one would better match the treatment and conciliation, seeking a better result and a gain in quality of life of these patients. The objective of this project is to assess mood disorders and anxiety in patients with different types of epilepsy and see if there is any relationship between the occurrence of these comorbidities to the presence of an inflammatory response and brain morphological changes. Will be evaluated patients with different types of epilepsy are followed at Neurology Ambulatory of HC / Campinas - Unicamp and that meet the criteria for inclusion / exclusion. Patients will undergo a psychological evaluation with the use of instruments SCID-I, BDI, BAI and IDTN-E. Will be collected blood samples for analysis of the inflammatory response and magnetic resonance imaging to collect images of brain structures. The patients studied are divided into groups according to psychiatric diagnosis and type of epilepsy found. Clinical data will be tabulated and the parametric and nonparametric variables will be analyzed.
