Abstract

This research project is to develop and evaluate a protection scheme suitable for alternating current transmission lines with a little more than a half wavelength, or AC-Link.For this, the project involves the adaptation of commonly used protection and development of a new protection scheme able to identify accurately and quickly to different situations of faults in AC-Link. Furthermore, methods are proposed to reduce secondary arc current, so that it makes possible the use of single-phase reclosing AC-Links.The models used are present in the program PSCAD / EMTDC, a simulation tool in the time domain of transient phenomena in electric power systems, and protection schemes developed will be analyzed by a digital simulation in real time using the RTDS (Real Time Digital Simulator).
