The planet is currently facing many natural phenomena and several catastrophic consequences which affected about 243 million people per year between 1998 and 2007. Brazil, inserted in this context, it was the 6th country in the world that faced the greatest number of natural disasters in February 2010. Nevertheless, the mapping of risk areas, developing of preventive plans and the municipal solutions for mitigating the consequences of disasters, such as the emergency housing provision, are inadequate nationwide, since it would imply a deep change of the urban structure, which it would be unlikely of being completed. This paper aims, therefore, to identify and to analyze theoretical and methodological models of emergency housing in Brazil and abroad, that can be able to attend national demands, result of these social disasters.
