Relationship between characteristics of children with cerebral palsy and its charge, and the inclusion of them

Abstract

In today's context of inclusion and considering that the caregiver is one of the important pillars to facilitate entry and residence of children with disabilities in school, community and society in general, this study aims to evaluate the psychological and emotional conditions of the responsible of children with cerebral palsy, which can interfere with the process of inclusion of these children. Participants in the study about 25 caregivers of children with cerebral palsy, attended the Center for the Study of Education and Health, State University - Campus Marilia. For data collection instrument will be used primarily in the abbreviated form of the Questionnaire on Resources and Stress (QRS-F), which consists of 52 items related to difficulties of caregivers, pessimism, child characteristics and physical disabilities. The second tool to be applied will be the scale of self-esteem of Her Collection, consisting of 15 items. The following procedure will be the application of a questionnaire containing 28 questions and 13 open alternatives, where by means of 41 questions seek to gather information on: (a) characterization of the child, (b) factors related to children in regular school, ( c) factors that may favor the inclusion, (d) factors that may be hindering the inclusion, (e) characterization of the accountable and (f) socioeconomic profile of the family of the child with cerebral palsy. Data collection will be made on individual contacts and answers to questions of alternatives will be tabulated for the frequency count and the answers to open questions will be transcribed and submitted to content analysis. For the evaluation of stress, the scores are calculated from responses in the Questionnaire on Resources and Stress (QRS-F), abbreviated version. Self-esteem will be assessed by the score to be calculated from the responses to their self-esteem scale of Her Collection. The data thus obtained will be analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively, by establishing the necessary comparisons between those from three data collection instruments.
