Abstract

Pharmacological interactions between medications might result in severe adverse reactions, with a high mortality rate and a significant impact on health services. By means of an in vitro study, the main objective of this work is to evaluate possible interactions between pharmacos related to the activity of cytochrome P450. It was based on notifications of suspected adverse reactions addressed to the pharmacovigilance system of CEBRID. The study will comprise three phases: i) Firstly, we will create a profile of the notifications, which will contain a description of the suspected adverse reactions regarding drug interactions reported to the system of pharmacovigilance of CEBRID; ii) Secondly, out of the drugs present in the notifications, we will select up to five groups of medications that are associated, with only two pharmacos per association, where the suspected adverse reaction analyzed could be related to the activity of cytochrome P450; iii) Finally, we will use microsomes of human liver for the in vitro assay, aiming at assessing a possible interaction between the pharmacos selected in relation to the activity of cytochrome P450. We expect the analysis of the mass of data provides enough evidence to support - or not - the hypothesis of pharmacological interaction among the pharmacos analyzed, related to the activity of cytochrome P450.
