Abstract

The present project proposes the development of a hybrid acoustic insulator developed at the Laboratório de Vibroacoustica (LVA) of the Faculdade de Engenharia Mecânica of the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Among the proposed activities is the survey of the physical principles responsible for the hybrid actuating, the comparison between electro-mechanical piezoelectric transducers based on PVDF polymers and PZT ceramics when applied to Active Noise Control and the selection of materials that compose the actuator in order to maximize the sound transmission loss. After optimizing the actuator, the strategies feedforward (Filtered-X LMS in the time and frequency domains and Acoustic Sound Intensity Control - ASIC) and feedback (robust control) will be tested in the isolation of periodic and non-periodic sound signals. These control strategies will also be tested in a reinforced panel with the hybrid acoustic insulator installed in a window that divides two acoustics chambers (anechoic and reverberant) to measure the sound transmission loss. In this final stage of testing it will be analyzed the possibility of mounting several hybrid actuators with decentralized controllers and control strategies looking for combinations that reach better results in the isolation of harmonic and random noise disturbances. During the proposed studies, some experimental results obtained previously with the hybrid actuator will be submitted to journals on the subject, as well as the new results obtained in this study.
