Abstract

This project investigates the hybrid scene of western dance post-1970 generation from the theoretical perspectives of theatricality and performativity. It explores the links between the notions regarding the operation of production processes, communication and perception of contemporary scenic dance. Having to cut out the context of dance in Sao Paulo in the 1980s and 1990s, it reconstructs and documents the artistic career of the dancer, choreographer, director and professor Umberto da Silva (1951-2008), trying to analyze his production and the transformation of his choreographic language from the perspectives of theatricality and performativity.
