Abstract

This project aims at the restoration of riparian vegetation in three springs of the Palmitalzinho Stream, town of Regente Feijó - SP. The stream is an important tributary of the Santo Anastácio River, which is used for various purposes such as recreation, watering livestock and mainly for public supply in the city of Presidente Prudente/SP. The territorial expansion in the watershed of the Palmitalzinho Stream was done haphazardly, causing the remove of much of the riparian vegetation to its springs and consequently the appearance of numerous environmental impacts of different magnitude and importance, citing the decrease in quantity and quality of water. Because of this picture of degradation and ecological importance, the research include a study area containing three springs in the basin of the Palmitalzinho Stream to application of nucleation techniques. The objective of these techniques is the fostering and establishment of ecological succession in degraded area, thus providing conditions for the occurrence of recovery of biodiversity. For this, the nucleation techniques to be applied will be planting seedlings, transposition of branches, natural and artificial perches and transposition of soil. The results of the nucleation techniques will be evaluated on the aspects abiotic, biotic and social. Finally, it is intended that the results of this research contribute to improving nucleation techniques, show the feasibility and results of forest restoration on private lands indicating the benefits of these actions.
