Abstract

The effects of exposure to air pollutants on human health are reflected preferably in respiratory disease. The age groups most affected are children and the elderly. The objective of this study is to estimate the role of air pollutants on hospital admissions for pneumonia in children living in Ribeirão Preto, SP. It will be an ecological study of time series with data from hospitalizations in children under 10 years of age, residing in Ribeirão Preto, SP. The admission data will be obtained DATASUS (daily data obtained by routine file transfer - SIHreduzida). The data of air pollutants will be obtained CETESB. The study period will be from 01.01.2010 to 31.12.2011. Will be estimated relative risks of hospitalization according to exposure to PM10, NO, NO2 and O3. The statistical analysis uses the generalized additive model Poisson regression because the admissions are infrequent and discrete data.(AU)
