Nursing as a profession is premised the attendance to individual necessities of human being and, many times, encounters itself into situations in conditions not always favorable in work environment to supply secure assistance. Organizational characteristics like autonomy, control of environment and good doctor-nurse relationship, make a propitious environment to the practice of nursing and allow a nurse's control about patient care and the environment in which it happens. By highlight that results of assistance are directly associated to activities played for technicians and nursing assistants, becoming important to evaluate the perception of this professionals with respect to environment of their practice. This study is intended to evaluate the psychometric performance of Brazilian version of "Nursing Work Index - Revised (B-NWI-R)" between technicians and auxiliary nurses. It is a methodological study to be developed in two teaching hospitals in interior of the state of São Paulo. Data collection will be done through three instruments: a) Report characterization of the subjects, b) Brazilian version of NWI-R and c) Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Data will be tabulated in Excel program - Windows XP and analyzed for statistic services. The NWI-R reliability will be evaluated by means of internal consistency analysis. The construct validity will be checked through correlation between the average scores of the Brazilian version of the NWI-R scores and the MBI, expressed by the Spearman coefficient.Key words: Health Facility Environment; Burnout; Nursing; Validation Studies.
