Abstract

The purpose of this research work is to reflect about how the image, as it repaginates the urban space, especially the commercial forms, metamorphoses the space of life into phantasmallegory, whose illusion is real, having in sight that the space is the most concrete dimension of the social reality. Thus, it's intended to debate, here, the ways that the new forms of merchandise-space, by revealing the consumption of space, contributes for the building process of the contemporary man turned into consumer. The approach of the theme emphasizes the contribution of the space consumption to understand the contemporary forms of fetishism of the merchandise world, in which the space gains relevance for being merchandise that involves all the other goods in the process. And, to understand the real dimension of the consumption category, which allows the understanding of the Geographic science, this work searches backing on the Marxist critical theory and on the Marxist reinvented psychoanalyses. The theoretical contribution aims to contribute for the theoretical-methodological advance of the Brazilian Urban Geography by searching for explanations about the socio-spatial practices resulting from the dialectic pair turned into hypermodern merchandise/consumption.
