Abstract

The morphological differences between species may or may not be associated with the action of environmental and biological pressures, allowing to investigate whether the phenotypic properties and patterns of resource use are associated with the evolutionary history of species. In this study I will analyze the occurrence and abundance of tadpoles in inside of water bodies microhabitats in the Atlantic Rainforest, seeking to answer the following questions: (1) The microhabitat structural complexity can influence the composition and species richness? (2) The ecology and evolutionary history determine the co-occurrence of species in the same microhabitat? (3) What is the influence of microhabitat and evolutionary history in the tadpoles's morphology? The database was obtained from monthly samplings carried out from September 2011 to March 2012 in 14 water bodies, seven lentic and seven lotic. We sampled a minimum of four microhabitats by water body, characterized by five variables: maximum depth, distance from the nearest edge, substratum type, percentage of vegetation cover on the water surface and percentage of vegetation types. To evaluate the influence of environmental heterogeneity on species richness and abundance will be used Hierarchical Partition. To determine the phylogenetic structure of the community in microhabitas will be used an analysis that relates the phylogenetic distance between species with the co-occurrence in microhabitats. To elucidate the influence of historical factors (phylogeny) and environmental (microhabitat use) on the morphology of tadpoles will be implemented the analysis of phylogenetic eigenvectors regression.
