Abstract

Sustainable development, employment generation and income, food security and regional development along with the search for efficiency, are strongly influenced by the growing importance of family farming. In this context there is the emergence of new strategies for exploration and new business models of family farms. The state institutions through teaching, research, credit systems, and especially the service of technical assistance and rural extension, place and intensified measures to promote rural development. Thus one can identify the emergence of numerous combinations of analysis about the success of the rural family, including different forms of income generation of farmers and factors determining the profitability of farms. The objective of this project is to analyze the different ways of generating income of farmers in the city of Herculândia-SP. To do so, specifically seeks to assess what factors influence the profitability of farms and, above all, which highlight the participation of agricultural activities and non-farm profitability of their production systems studied family. To this end, shall be used as a methodological analysis of multiple linear regression, considering independent variables that can measure the agricultural income and non-agricultural income of farmers in this municipality. The response variable is the total gross income expected. As a result, is expected to conclude which variables significantly influence the total gross income of the properties analyzed. (AU)
