Abstract

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is one of the most consumed foods in the world. Despite its importance, the potatoes growth area in Brazil has reduced in recent years, but production remained stable, which, in part due to the high yields of current cultivars. With yield increase possibly nutritional demands of the crop were altered, which leads to the need for adjusting the doses applied to the needs of the plant. Among the fertilizers used in potato crops, phosphorus fertilizers deserve greater emphasis, since they are used in high doses. However, the indiscriminate use of phosphate fertilizers on this crop, besides increasing the cost of production, can cause environmental pollution. The objective of this study is to establish response curves of cultivars Agata and Mondial to phosphorus fertilization, and thus, propose the possible suitability of P2O5 levels traditionally used by producers. The experimental design is a randomized block in a 2x5 factorial scheme, consisting of two cultivars (Agata and Mondial) and five doses of P2O5 (0, 125, 250, 500, and 1000 kg ha-1). Will be evaluated: a) foliar diagnosis, b) number, yield, and classification of tuber yield, and c) a percentage of dry matter in tubers. Data will be submitted to analysis of variance. The averages of cultivars are compared by t-test (LSD) at 5% probability, while the effects of doses of P2O5 will be evaluated by means of regression analysis.(AU)
