Abstract

Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is the most accepted treatment for severe canine hip dysplasia. Several prosthetic devices and systems are available, from the old fixed head cemented prostheses to the most recent osteointegravel femoral head and interchangeable systems. We emphasize the escasses reports and studies in the literature regarding the use of national prosthetic systems as well as the clinical applications of the same in Brazil. This research aims to evaluate the application of a total modular hybrid hip joint prosthesis developed and manufactured in Brazil, up to 180 days postoperatively. 10 males and females eskeletally mature dogs will be used, all of them with severe clinical hip dysplasia. Be made up to a single experimental group of 10 dogs underwent the procedure in total arthroplasty, using interchangeable head cemented femoral component and cementless acetabular component. The dogs will be submitted to orthopedic clinical examination and radiographic examination at 24 hours, and at 30, 60, 120 and 180 days after surgery; will also be submitted to CT scan at 24 hours, and at 60 and 180 days after the prosthetic procedure.
