Abstract

This project is a complement to the main project and presents the issues to be addressed in our research in France and also describes the institutional framework in which it will be developed. The original project seeks to put into historical perspective the work of Daniel Buren, artist born in France near Paris in 1938 and still active in the contemporary scene. His work is characterized mainly to develop multiple ways of exposing a work of art and how to organize them. The time frame encompasses the works made between 1967 and 1990. The present research focuses on collecting data on the major exhibitions in which Daniel Buren participated in the period between 1971 and 1986. This stage is going to developed at the University Rennes 2 Haute Bretagne and in the "Archives de l'Art Critique" installed also in the city of Rennes (France), between February and August 2012, under the supervision of Professor Jean-Marc Poinsot.
